Page one, page two of Contents page.
Page one, page two of Double page Article.
The aim of these tasks was to create the front cover, contents page & a double page article for a music magazine. I did this using the programme I’d been using for my Preliminary, Pixalmator.
I planned everything in the photo shoot of my band & I used props that played on the name of them ‘Have a Banana for Tea’ so I posed them with bananas to signify them being weird & wacky & I also tried to portray this in my article.
For my front cover I tried to take the conventions & style of the two front cover’s that I looked & deconstructed and tried to kind of copy them to make mine look original but professional at the same time.
School/college magazine front cover.
School/college magazine contents page.
This task was to create the front cover of a school or college magazine & then the contents page after planning & thinking carefully about small details like props & clothing.
I found this task really useful because it allowed me to have time practising with the programme I was going to use for my production, which allowed me to get all my initial mistakes out of the way before I started on my main task.
Here are the tasks I did for my Research & Planning.
task one.
This task was to annotate & deconstruct two front pages using my semiotic knowledge. I had to comment on use of colour, language features, size & positioning of images and camera shots. I then had to redo it for two double page articles.
This helped me to gain audience awareness and helped me see what the key conventions of magazines were.
task two.
This task was to copy one of the front covers I had deconstructed as close to the original as possible.
I found this really helpful as it gave me a chance to use the programme I would be using for my production so it gave me a chance to practice.
I then wrote up what I found here.
task three.
This was when I had to go through magazines & identify the different types of articles.
This was useful because it showed me what kind of articles are in magazines & has helped me justify my choices for what I included in mine.
task four.
This task was to start planning what I will have in my magazine. I had to create some rough outline drawings that I did on paper. I planned using the key conventions like colour, location & clothing and what I intended to have these signify.
From this I gathered what I wanted my magazines to look like & so my initial plans really helped me to decide how I wanted the layout to look.
